Keeping with our street-theme, DJ Moe will tell us some wonderful tidbits about the old roads in Croatia.

A Super Slatko Report that talks about trekking century old roads around the country?

Sounds like a great show today!

Found this on Adriatic.Hr.

If you are planning to visit Croatia, consider a Driving trip. You can easily traverse the country on it highways, meandering streets and even hop aboard a Traecht to get to your island destination. So if you want to get see something, a car can get you there, if not it can get you really, really close.

That being said, when you are traveling, visiting, etc..  these 6 roads are available to drive on today and show another side of Croatia to fall in love with.

  1. Jadranska Magistrala (Adriatic Road) - with the Adriatic constantly by your side, this road will definitely supply you the Croatian coast line views you were hoping for. One of the most famous roads in Croatia, the Jadranska Magistrala will take you from Trieste to Ulcinj. The road actually follows the trails that were built during the time of the Roman Empire. If you’d like to see more of the road before you actually get there in person, this road was recently used on the Grand Tour, a DJ MOE fave, when the 3 hosts, Jeremy, James and Richard, visited Croatia, back in Season 2, Episode 4.

  2. Caroline Road - built in the 18th century as the connector to Pannonian to the Adriatic parts of Croatia. A mountainous road that later served to connect Karlovac to Bakar a navy port at the time. It’s a steep and curvy road, not crowded with great views of Gorski Kotar and the Mount Velebit.

  3. Lujzijana Road - This road was built in 1811 to help with transporting goods that the aforementioned Carolina Road couldn’t. A much smoother trip, the Lujzijana Road connected Karlovac to Rijeka. This road offers loads of little settlements to enjoy along the way and plenty of places to stop and have a picnic and take in the views.

  4. Masters Road - dubbed the shortest way to Dalmatia. This road was made to connect Zachary to the northern parts of Croatia. Opened in 1832, this road takes you through mountain terrain gifting you a view of a lifetime while you scoot along on this construction marvel.

  5. Josephine Road - another road starting in Karlovac, this time taking you to Senj in Primorsko - Goranska County. The road was supposedly built when King Josip II, fell off his horse in the Kapela area. He felt that there had to be a better way to get to Senj, so they built the Josephine Road. Today you can take the road from Karlovac to Lika taking in the lush greenery the whole trip.

  6. Rudolfina - also known as the forgotten road… This roads purpose was to connect Croatia’s mainland with its coastal region. This road sounds like a quiet forest road, full of nature and wild life. Sounds like fun.
